Year 12 Outdoor Education Camp

July 24, 2018 @ 8:00 am - July 27, 2018 @ 5:00 pm

As part of the Year 12 Outdoor and Environmental Studies Unit Four subject, a field study trip is organised for all students to the Victorian Alps. Students will partake in some short walks in the lower elevations to gain some initial practical knowledge of the study area, followed by a day of downhill skiing or snowboarding on Mt Buller and an overnight cross country ski trip on Mt Stirling to gain further knowledge needed to discuss this key environment.

Two nights are spent at Wairere Lodge, a self-contained lodge on our beef farming property in Boorolite in the Delatite river valley operated by Stirling Experience and a half hour from the mountain resort gates.

On the third night after a day of x-country skiing students arrive at Mt Stirling’s Alpine Camp. This camp offers a unique and safe experience for students. They will be accommodated in four bed safari tent/huts. The main hut contains a fully equipped kitchen, table and wood fired combustion stove. Throughout the camp the students are collecting key knowledge related to Unit 4 and upon completion are able to link the theoretical knowledge learnt in class with their practical experience.
